During a boss sequence that forces repeated dodges between expensive casts, Jiquani's Thesis has to earn its socket through recovery that arrives before the next hit, not through a larger resource number in town. For PoE 2 players comparing equipment through Path of Exile 2 Currency, the useful question is which slot supports that pressure cycle without weakening the rest of the loadout. This level 60 Soul Core has three equipment applications: helmet Armour becomes maximum Mana, glove Mana expenditure starts Energy Shield Recharge, and boot movement-speed modifiers influence recharge rate. Those effects solve different problems.

A Helmet Upgrade Needs More Than an Armour Number

The helmet effect grants +1 maximum Mana per 3 points of Item Armour on that helmet. A helmet showing 900 Item Armour therefore supplies 300 additional maximum Mana before considering any separate character modifiers. Compare the equipped item's Armour, not your character's total Armour. This is useful for a Mana-focused build, but the purchase decision should include resistances, attributes, Life, and any Energy Shield being surrendered. A larger Mana pool does not establish that you can sustain repeated casts. Check both the resource increase and the defensive losses before committing to the replacement.

Gloves Reward Spending Cadence, Not Mana Capacity

In gloves, spending a total of 2,000 Mana starts Energy Shield Recharge, with activation limited to once every two seconds. That creates a measurable breakpoint: averaging 1,000 Mana spent per second reaches the expenditure threshold in two seconds, while 500 per second takes four. These are simplified pacing estimates, not guaranteed combat intervals. Dodging, repositioning, and waiting for a target reduce actual expenditure. Spending faster cannot bypass the two-second activation limit, so extra sBlockedword/sentence cost should not be treated as an automatic defensive improvement. The useful metric is time between qualifying activations during the encounter.

Test that cadence against your damage uptime. A caster may reach the threshold quickly while attacking a stationary target, then struggle during a boss phase that permits only one cast between movement commands. Long animation commitments make that mismatch more costly: forcing another cast to approach 2,000 Mana can expose you to the attack you needed recovery to survive. Record whether recharge starts before the next dangerous sequence and whether Mana remains available afterward. Enemies that demand frequent evasive movement are a tougher test than packs that let you stand still and spend freely.

Boots Improve the Recovery Window You Already Have

The boot effect makes increases and reductions to Movement Speed also apply to Energy Shield Recharge Rate. Its appeal is efficient investment: eligible movement-speed modifiers can support mobility and recharge together. However, recharge rate and recharge availability are separate questions. Faster recovery is valuable when recharge is active; it does not reproduce the gloves' expenditure trigger. Judge the boots against encounters where you can create distance and use that recovery window. Persistent pressure and cramped arenas make the pairing less dependable. Keep essential resistances and defensive item stats ahead of a movement-speed increase that only helps under favorable conditions.

Choose the Slot Around Your Weakest Combat Phase

Choose the helmet for a worthwhile Mana increase, gloves for repeatable expenditure, or boots when recharge already fits your movement pattern. Before using path of exile 2 trade to replace equipment, compare the complete items and retest your hardest encounter. The right Jiquani's Thesis setup in PoE 2 addresses a demonstrated weakness without creating a larger defensive gap.
