I have noticed that free time does not automatically mean relaxation. There are evenings when I technically have nothing to do, yet I spend most of them scrolling through my phone and wondering where the time went. I have been trying to change that by giving myself a few simple things to look forward to.
One source of ideas I enjoy is https://www.missirosesviews.com/ particularly because it brings together health, lifestyle, food, travel and entertainment. I can browse when I want something light to read or look for an idea that might actually change what I do that evening.
One habit that helps me is preparing something enjoyable before I sit down to relax. It might be a homeBlockedword/sentencee drink, a simple meal or even a snack I have not tried before. Once I have done that, I am less likely to spend the whole evening deciding what to do.
I have also started leaving my phone in another room for short periods. It sounds insignificant, but even half an hour without constant notifications feels different. I can read, listen to music or simply have a conversation without being distracted.
I do not think relaxing requires a strict routine. I just find that a few intentional choices can make free time feel much more satisfying.
