York seal vital victory over bottom club Huddersfield

Huddersfield Giants coach Jim Lenihan told BBC Radio Leeds:

"Disappointing today. I think the last few weeks we've certainly been taking some steps forward with the way we've been playing.

"Certainly after last week, when I thought we played really well, we were looking to keep a bit of that momentum but unfortunately we've had a bit of a dip - a disappointing result for us.

"I thought defensively we were really poor - we crumbled fairly quickly. We have to find more resilience mentally but at the moment, I don't know if it was because it was a big occasion, big stage, but we're professional football players and we're too inconsistent."

York Knights coach Mark Applegarth told BBC Radio York:

"We spoke about going back-to-back [wins] for the first time this year and it was really important we backed that up after the performance at Castleford.

"[A] massive performance from us. I thought we started sloppy and Huddersfield were just rolling us but it was about staying patient, staying composed, and being clinical in certain aspects of the game.

"I'm really pleased for Cody [Hunter]. He's coming up with better decision-making and I'm really happy with how he's doing. Long may it continue.

"We've got back-to-back wins now but we're still nowhere near where we want to be so we've got to keep chasing that improvement and consistency."
